Traditional Sicilian house

Our house

Casa Velardi is located just outside Viagrande, a town on Mount Etna rich in history and tradition, once the summer residence of Catania's nobility. Its name derives from Vilardi, one of Viagrande's oldest neighbourhoods, almost entirely destroyed by the 1693 earthquake. The house is just a 5-minute walk from the Chiesa Madre, the charming Viscalori neighbourhood, bars, pizzerias, and shops. It is a characteristic Sicilian residence from the late 19th century, renovated with full respect for traditional architecture. The country-style furnishings with a touch of ethnic elements create a warm and familiar atmosphere throughout. The attentive care of Susanna, your host, will do the rest to make you feel relaxed and pampered, better than at home!

An environmentally friendly home

Travelling has a cost to the planet, and sustainability- conscious travelers rightly want their vacation to have a reduced impact on the environment. Our family has always been committed to a less polluted world, and we do so daily, even in the day-to-day running of our home: we use solar energy from photovoltaic panels, we are careful about consumption, we try not to overuse detergents and instead use biodegradable hygiene products, and we tend to the garden using natural methods and without the use of pesticides and herbicides.

Since we became part of the Ecobnb network, we have also committed to being plastic-free, using recycled or FSC-certified paper, eliminating single-use and disposable products, recycling at least 80% of household waste, encouraging the use of public transport and cycling, and finally, supporting the local economy.

We ask our guests' cooperation by sharing our commitment to a better future.
